Mainz and the Rhine River (July 5th) - Matthew Edwards

This Cathedral was built 1000 years ago in Mainz
They built a lot of markets for the traders right outside the Cathedrals.
These doors were made out of full copper and weighted 1.2 tons each.

This is one of the few churches to be facing west instead of east.

The painting has a glossy look because of it being an oil painting compared to the other ones.

They had a list of all the different bishops the church has had through out its history.

The story behind this is that he got his head cut off and when that happened he said, "This is not a good enough place to die," so he picked up his head and carried it 3.7 km to a place where he said he can die.

This is the only picture I have from the Gutenberg museum because I took it before she said you are not allowed to take pictures.

We took cable cars up to the top of the hill and had a really good sight of the city.

View from the top of the hill.

This was the huge monument on top of the hill.

There were a lot of castles when we were on the Rhine River cruise.
